PdfWiseAI guide
What happens when you chat with a PDF?
AI document chat cannot be described in exactly the same way as a local merge or rotate operation. To answer questions, an AI service needs useful document context. Understanding that data flow helps you decide which files are appropriate to analyze.
The browser first reads the document
PdfWiseAI extracts readable text page by page in the browser. The complete PDF binary is not needed for a text-based question. The application prepares a limited document context containing the file name, page count and extracted text required for the conversation.
Image-only scans may contain little or no readable text unless optical character recognition has been performed. In that case, the assistant may not have enough context to answer accurately.
Useful text is sent for AI processing
When you submit a question, the relevant extracted text, the question and a limited recent conversation history are sent through the PdfWiseAI server to the configured AI processing service. The service returns an answer, page references and, when appropriate, a suggested PDF action.
The assistant is instructed to treat document contents as untrusted data, answer from the supplied text and avoid claiming that an edit has already happened. A transformation still requires user confirmation in the interface.
Why page citations matter
A fluent answer can still be incomplete or mistaken. Page references let you compare the answer with the source instead of accepting it automatically. For contracts, financial documents, medical information or legal material, always review the original wording and consult an appropriate professional when needed.
- Ask focused questions rather than requesting a vague review.
- Check every important amount, date and obligation against the cited page.
- Do not treat an AI summary as a substitute for the original document.
- Remove information that is not necessary for the task whenever practical.
Choose the right mode for the document
Use local tools when you only need to merge, split, rotate, compress or otherwise transform a file. Use document chat when the benefit of analysis justifies sending extracted text to an AI service. This separation gives users a clearer choice instead of treating every PDF operation as a cloud upload.
