How PdfWiseAI works

How PdfWiseAI works

Drop a PDF, describe what you need in plain language, and the workspace picks the right operation. Local transformations run entirely in your browser. AI chat reads the document text locally and sends only the excerpt needed to answer your question — the PDF binary never leaves your device.

PDF transformations in your browser

PDF transformations in your browser

Merge, split, reorder, rotate, crop, renumber and remove pages; compress, watermark, redact and sanitize; convert PDF to JPG, PNG, plain text or Markdown; run OCR on scanned pages; compare two versions. Every transformation runs in your browser and produces a separate output — the source file is never overwritten.

AI-assisted PDF analysis

AI-assisted PDF analysis

Ask a long contract, a research paper or a financial report a direct question in everyday language. The assistant reads the text out of the PDF locally, then sends only the relevant excerpt plus your question to the AI service. Answers cite the page they came from, so you can verify before relying on them.

Built for legal, business and education work

Built for legal, business and education work

Lawyers review and redact confidential documents on their own device. Finance teams compress statements and merge vendor invoices before sending. Researchers extract data from scanned papers with OCR. Students chat with course PDFs and convert chapters to Markdown for notes. Every workflow runs without uploading the original document.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I merge PDF files without uploading them?

Yes. Merge runs in your browser using pdf-lib. The source PDFs are read into a local in-memory document and never sent over the network. You can confirm this by opening the browser's Network panel while merging a test file.

Do I need to create an account to use PdfWiseAI?

No. Every tool — merge, split, compress, convert, OCR, chat — is available without an account. There is no sign-up, no email confirmation and no watermark added to the output.

What happens when I chat with a PDF?

The assistant reads the text out of the PDF locally, then sends only the excerpt needed to answer your question to the AI service. The binary PDF never leaves your device. Answers cite the page they came from.

Can I convert a scanned PDF to text or Markdown?

Yes. Run OCR first to add a text layer to image-only pages, then use the PDF to text or PDF to Markdown export. OCR runs in the browser with Tesseract.js.

Is PdfWiseAI suitable for confidential legal or business documents?

The PDF transformations run locally in your browser and do not upload the file. For sensitive work, this keeps the original document on your device. AI chat does send the extracted text of the relevant pages to the remote AI service — review the AI provider's data policy if that matters for your document.

Will I lose quality when merging or compressing PDFs?

Merge copies page objects from each source PDF into a new document without re-encoding the image streams, so resolution and quality are preserved. Compress offers several levels — start with the recommended setting and step up to stronger compression only if needed.
